We sure do want to play, but that is one of the most pathetic slogans ever. Almost as pathetic as the commercials for Wii games. Remember back in the good old days when games had commercials that were actually cool? My favorite was probably the Super Smash Bros. one… classic for the ages.
Anyways, it’s come to a point where there are kids making better commercials than the ones Nintendo are airing on TV, and posting them on Youtube for fun.
Suffer through the official commercial:
And now watch this one made by a couple kids (one who badly needs haircut, all four needing some new clothes, but that’s besides my point):
The camera work is no the best, but to me, the idea behind the fake commercial is much better, and a lot more interesting that the official commercial.

Sorry I have to disagree. The new commercials are pretty good. They show the audience that any age person could be having fun playing it. It shows how the motion sensor remote is making the game different than other sit and finger-bash the controller.
As for your comment on the fan-made commercial being better. You realize that the sample you used is a direct ripoff of the rachet and clank video game commercials from Sony. Yes those are entertaining but bad example.

You are completely right that Nintendo is doing what it wants to do – show that anyone can play games… but a game like Metroid, unlike Wii Sports, for example, is not going to be simple because of the controls, and I’m confused as to why a 40 year old guy in a dress shirt and tie is playing. Nintendo may have been trying to be funny, but it’s not, and I doubt very many guys in their 40s will be purchasing Prime 3.
And yeah, I realize the fan-made commercial is a ripoff of the R&C commercials where they feature one of their crazy weapons, but I wish Nintendo would go back to their quirky commercials.
